Elapse times

  • 1.1 Any vessel that is unable to make their official start time must notify the committee prior to the scratch boat start.
  • 1.2 Elapse starts will be accepted under the following circumstances
    - Engine failure
    - Rigging failure
    - Medical Emergency
  • 1.3 Elapse times must be recorded on the day and within 1hr of the scratch boat start
  • 1.4 Vessels on elapse times will request an adjusted start time from the starter boat. Time from that vessel will be recorded from the new official start time.
  • 1.5 All vessels will be notified via the radio start confirmation of any vessel requiring an elapsed start
  • 1.6 Vessel with elapsed time will be recorded as the average of all boats competing on the day from their start time to there actual recorded time they crossed the start line.

Radio start confirmation

  • 2.1 All vessels participating in the twilight race are required to radio in the following information (channel 74)
    - Number of people on board
    - Confirm official start time
    - If they have been granted an elapse start time

Vessel in distress

  • 3.1 If a vessel is in distress and you are in the position to provide assistance you are obliged to do so.
  • 3.2 In this situation the vessel providing the assistance will maintain their current position at the time they assist as a result.
  • 3.3 Vessels behind will also pick up a place as a result.
  • 3.4 Vessel that required assistance receive a DNF result

Monthly race schedule

  • 4.1 Racing occurs every Wednesday from 3rd September to last Wednesday of March weather permitting.
  • 4.2 In the case that there are 5 Wednesdays in a month the fifth race will be declared a non points race. A theme will be chosen by the committee and announced at the beginning of the month.
  • 4.3 In order to achieve a monthly result a minimum of three races are to be completed.
  • 4.4 Should their be a non result month a make up race(s) is/are to be held in order of month the first Wednesday after end of series (March)
  • 4.5 Results for these races will provide final monthly and season standings.

Adjustment to times during race

  • 5.1 Should a vessel need to return to the start for a medical emergency a new start time will be given by the start boat should they wish to restart the race
  • 5.2 In the case of 5.1 an average race result can be obtained if the vessel withdraws from the race. In both cases vessels will be notified via radio.
  • 5.3 Should a vessel return for any reason other than a medical emergency 1/2 the time from when they radio in will be added to their result should they wish to restart

New vessel handicap allowance

  • 7.1 Vessels who join the club during the season will be provided with an official start time issued by the handicapper.
    NB: Boat dimensions must be provided to handicapper prior to officially racing
  • 7.2 Three weeks of adjusting times by the handicapper is permitted in order for the new vessel to become competitive.

Race results and handicap adjustments

  • 8.1 Race results can not be altered after the race has concluded.
  • 8.2 The following adjustments will be made to handicaps as a result of race results 1st Place = 3 minutes added to start time 2nd Place = 2 minutes added to start time 3rd Place = 1 minute added to start time Last place = 1 minute deducted from start time
  • 8.3 NB: A minimum of (5) five vessels must be racing for the last place boat to receive the added minute.
  • 8.4 Race results will be posted via e-mail prior to the next race.
  • 8.5 Monthly and series results will be posted after each end of month race.
  • 8.6 The winning vessel is responsible for cooking the bbq and running the raffle at the presentation.

Race fees

  • 9.1 Race fees are to be paid each week.
  • 9.2 Race fees are calculated by number of people on board x $5.00
  • 9.3 Skippers are responsible for collecting fees
  • 9.4 Allowances for larger vessels capping at $50

Membership

  • 10.1 All vessels must have at least 1 full member on board for each race.
  • 10.2 Should crew race more than three races they are required to become full members to assist in the clubs growth.
  • 10.3 Social members will receive the YA benefits

Dropped Races

  • 11.1 During the course of the twilight season each vessel will drop two (2) of their worst results.
  • 11.2 Dropped races can include DNF and DNS results.

Amendments

  • 12.1 Any amendments or additions to the CYC twilight guidelines must be brought to a membership vote.
  • 12.2 An announcement of any amendments or additions allowing for sufficient crew discussion is required before going to a vote
  • 12.3 A majority vote is to be obtained for any amendments or additions to be introduced.
